AZC has transitioned to a mixed virtual/in-person schedule due to COVID-19 and is adhering to guidelines established by the New Mexico Department of Health.
The Center’s current sitting schedule is available via Zoom. The daily schedule is mornings 6:30 – 7:30 am (Monday – Saturday). Evening sitting is 6 – 7 pm (Monday – Thursday)
The Center will reopen for in-person morning zazen on June 1st. Zendo seating is limited to 9 people including Jiki and Shoji. Masks are required in the Zendo. In the mornings, students are also welcomed to sit out in the grounds, without a mask, during Zendo time.
Evening practice will continue as a Zoom-only option. The regular Thursday evening book discussion is ongoing. Currently we are reading “Swampland Flowers.”
The Board is monitoring the recommendations from the NMDH and will adjust AZC protocols accordingly.
The Center is also open to in-person practice Sunday morning, 7-9 am. There is open sitting (with masks) in the Zendo and sitting around the grounds. This is a time for silent practice. Socializing should happen offsite.
The library will re-open during June. Check the newsletter for availability and more information.
Your patience is appreciated as we continue to monitor NM guidelines until AZC can fully re-open. We are concerned for everyone’s health and well-being especially since many sangha members are older and AZC is Seiju’s residence. We will keep everyone apprised through the newsletter and website of updates and any changes as they occur. Gasshō
