Samu
(work practice)
Samu is physical form of meditation practice and includes such daily tasks as cleaning, sweeping, gardening, scrubbing floors, dusting, etc. Like zazen, it is an activity in which you merge completely with the task at hand. It is an opportunity to extend and deepen one’s practice outside of the zendo.
If you have some free time on Saturday mornings between 9:00 and 11:00 am, and want to help us maintain the grounds and participate in other tasks, there is always work to do. Please bring a hat, gloves and sunscreen. Facemasks must be worn at all times on the grounds. Even short periods of time produce results. Your help is greatly appreciated during this challenging time. Gasshō!
